Driving licence and insurance information

Non-GB driving licence holders

Non-GB licence holders should use the Government’s online eligibility service. EU licence holders and licences from other countries may need to be referred to the insurer depending on residency and UK driving experience.

Points and convictions

Some speeding and traffic-offence points may be covered as standard. Other endorsements, bans or disqualifications may require referral or an additional insurance excess.

Driving abroad

Additional documents and equipment may be required for European travel. Check current official guidance before departure.

Terms and conditions

Eligibility and named drivers

Only drivers named in the proposal forms may drive the hired vehicle. Drivers must meet the insurer’s age, health, licence and endorsement requirements. Licences and identification must be produced at collection.

Bookings, payments and cancellation

The existing terms describe a booking deposit, payment deadlines and cancellation charges. These figures and timings will be confirmed before the new platform is launched.

Insurance and damage deposit

The motorhomes are comprehensively insured for accepted named drivers during the agreed hire period. The current site refers to a refundable damage deposit and insurance excess; final amounts require confirmation.

Vehicle care, fuel and gas

The motorhome and contents remain the property of Home to Motorhome Hire. Smoking is prohibited. The vehicle should be returned with the agreed fuel and LPG levels and in a clean, undamaged condition.

Driving, mileage and travel

The hirer remains responsible for road offences, tolls, fines and safe control of the vehicle. Passenger capacity and vehicle limits must not be exceeded. Mileage limits and overseas-travel permissions must be agreed before hire.

Breakdowns and accidents

Breakdowns, accidents, damage or faults must be reported promptly and handled in accordance with the supplied recovery and insurance instructions.

Two proofs of address are required

Suitable documents may include council tax, utility bills, bank or credit-card statements, payslips, pension letters or other approved correspondence. Except for an annual council-tax bill, documents should normally be dated within 90 days of hire. Names and addresses must match.
